Cincar Janko Popović : ウィキペディア英語版 | Cincar-Janko Janko Popović, nicknamed Cincar Janko (Ohrid 1779 – Ravanica Monastery 1833) was one of the most prominent leaders of the First Serbian Uprising. == Family and Youth == Though his nickname was "Cincar“ ("Aromanian“) his roots are Serb.〔Dragiša Lapčević, Cincarstvo u Srbiji, Belgrade 1924〕 He got such a nickname since he came from the area in which a lot of Aromanians lived and his pronunciation of words was dissimilar to that of the area where he spent most of his life. Janko was born in 1779 in Ohrid, in a family of priests. His father came from the village of Donja Belica, close to Struga, where his cousin Cincar Marko Kostić, another leader in the Serbian Uprising was born. After he had murdered a certain Turk, Janko fled northwards and around the year 1800 settled in Valjevo where he lived as a tradesman.
